SNOW WHITE, AN ETERNAL ROMANCE AT DISNEYLAND PARK : Interview with director Katy Harris

Can you introduce Snow White, an eternal romance ?
Snow White, an eternal romance is what we call a "little show" (Happening), which takes place on stage at the Castle, where we played Winnie the Pooh and his friends a few years ago, and The Magic Book Mickey the opening of the park. The idea is to honor our princess to celebrate the release of the Collector's Edition of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Blu-ray. Insofar as our show lasts about 8 minutes, it's not the whole story of the film. Instead, I selected the most highlights the major themes of the film and put them on stage in a spirit of celebration. Thus we find the greatest music of the film in such paintings as Heigh-Ho , One Day My Prince Will Come or Whistle while you work. It's really a show with music, dance and singing.

Where does the music you use?
In fact, we performed a new soundtrack using the arrangements that have been produced for many years in the park.

How did you approach the choreography of the Seven Dwarfs?
I was inspired directly film including the sequence of the Tyrolean Dwarf which we reproduce on stage using instruments identical to those of the film, bass, harp, flute and accordion. I also played on the picks and wheelbarrows. This "dance of wheelbarrows" is a novelty for me because I had never worked with this accessory before and it was very interesting to put up with the Captains who will manage the show. All this makes the choreography very diverse and fun, precisely because the Dwarves are playing a lot with accessories. For its part, also dances with Dopey Snow White whom he is secretly love ... Then everything ends on a high-waltz because it is mostly a story of love between Snow White and her Prince Charming, when the Dwarves are involved in their own way!

The reference model for Snow White at the time of its creation was Marge Champion, dancer herself, who sent the princess all her grace. As a director, choreographer and dancer as yourself, how did you approach the gestures?
For me, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the easiest films to stage because, As a dancer, the movements of Snow White are very identifiable. We recognize the steps, style and body language specific to ballet. From there, I viewed the film that I spent the loop sequences key to decrypt the body language that I incorporate into my choreography and then my staging.

It is a pleasure to revisit the scene of the Castle run again!
By the very nature of this show, we do not need to make costume changes or scene changes. Therefore, this scene was perfect. And above all, I love her opening. We have lots of space, access is easy. It's a great scene to work!

The show ends with a meeting with the characters.
It indeed linked together with a "meet'n greet" so that our visitors can meet Snow White, Prince and the Seven Dwarfs. It will be a unique opportunity to approach the family of Snow White in full force!

THE-TOP DVD AND BD: Interview with storyboard artist Enrico Casarosa

How was writing Top there?
When I joined, they had already started the first and second act. I am more present in the second and especially the third act. As usual, there was a lot of rewriting. What was most interesting about this production is that we really worked together. For example, early on we wrote the third act, his action and his final, brainstorming. The result is that the party has changed little and remained nearly the same in the final version. This was the approach of the broader history and the largest that I have ever had. We all worked on a large number of different sequences by exchanging our thoughts. It was such a team it is difficult to find a sequence that is mine. But it is ultimately not important insofar as there are ideas to me rather scattered throughout the film. More specifically, I had the pleasure of storyboarder the end credits with my colleague Bill Presinge. A great time!

This seems particularly pleased to have you!
I think this is mainly due to this collaboration closely with Pete Docter and Bob Peterson, insofar as they have a sensitivity very close to mine. We understand very quickly and very easily. And it's not really a movie like the others! A film like this, it does not happen often in the business! I feel very lucky to have participated!

The first shock of the film comes from this sequence without words telling the common life of Carl and Ellie, and Ellie's disappearance.
The credit belongs to Ronnie Del Carmen who storyboarded most of this sequence. It was fashioned with great care throughout the production. For the first screening test, we noticed how the public reacted very emotionally, and then we realized we had touched on something essential.

The heart of the film is based on the relationship between Carl and Russel. How did you approach?
We knew that we should approach it with great care. It was very important to ensure that these two characters go well together and that little boy stirs a little old man. This is what can happen to a worse grumpy old man! He had to keep a constant connection between the two. A certain emptiness in their respective lives that the other will be fill. This arc has been the subject of our attention.

Here High racontre the story of an old man and a young boy, and you, Pixar, you've mostly between 30 and 40 years-so just in between. How did you manage to forge a link between these two heroes?
Initially, Pete Docter and Bob Peterson tried to link them to their own lives. Pete was really inspired by his own grandfather, for example. And then they studied a lot by visiting retirement homes. They have offered to play their music. Both are excellent musicians, including Pete, who plays bass. They had fun and seniors too! And meanwhile, they watched and studied them carefully, looking at their postures and attitudes. Of what they bathed their lives, how they move and react. Unfortunately, they did this before I arrived on the project. Overall I think what is very tender in this story and what we decided to take part, is that made us think our own lives. I personally thought a lot about my grandfather, and I tried to gather my memories. My grandmother died quite a few years before my grandfather and it has always been the object of resentment. He has always wanted God to be forced to survive as long in it. It spends its life with the woman you love, and suddenly, when one of the two disappears, we hope that something is going with her or him. I'm sure he would like to join as soon as possible. This sent me back to my own wife and when life shall separate us. These sad thoughts, but ultimately, they must give us the strength to enjoy life, the present moment.

Regarding the boy, it was more difficult to create a personal relationship with him. It's more a character inspired by the cartoon, but it also has problems. His family is fragmented, making it also lacks something. The meeting of Carl and Russell takes a lot of sense in that both have missing pieces to the puzzle of their lives. We have therefore tried to ensure that they really need each other. This is what makes the value of a story like this. It allows you to think about things as important as death, and makes you realize that you are still on earth, and you still have something to do with your life, meetings and to live it all full!

Another element of the story I love is that, somehow, we can say that Carl is going to South America to die, it's somehow his last trip. I've always seen my share things like that. And this little boy is here to give him a taste for life. Carl tries to fulfill the last wish of his wife, but at the same time trying to join her in this crazy journey. Of course, this appears as a watermark, but I always liked this view. It is this child that allows him to realize that maybe Ellie does not want Carl to join her immediately, and must still accomplish many things. It really is a deep, subtle, with an emotional essential. But, I think: we really talking about a movie here?

How did you get into these characters in this very special environment that are tepuis South America?
From the beginning, we thought we should address this tepuis and any mountain environment as a character in itself. This was one of our challenges. How to do? It was a challenge in the sense that this place was so unknown, so different from what we can imagine. Pete, Ronnie and different artists have production could realize on the spot. The idea was to give credibility to this incredible place. It must be said that some forms of rock are really weird. So the art department has put all his talent to make sure to give the feeling that this place really exists.

It's not just the environment that is special. Kevin is also!
is a character who has changed significantly during the production. At first, he must have something of a dinosaur in that it would be very special, and should be the missing link between dinosaurs and modern animals. So we played with this idea and others. We really tried to find out who was actually Kevin and we went through different designs. And compared to Muntz, the villain of the story, he had to understand that this bird was special enough for someone to hunt for years. At one point there was even talk for Kevin to have eggs and be linked to the Fountain of Youth. We were really on the side of fantasy. That's when we realized that for what these interesting ideas, it turned a little grotesque and does not really fit the themes we wanted deal in our history. That's why I think the idea of a bird classic works much better in the end. It was always this idea that Kevin is the missing link and that is why we have approached as a cross between dinosaurs and birds. That is where are these huge feet. We also had ostrich who came a few hours in the lawns of Pixar to make crunching by our designers, to serve as a reference. It was also interesting to find the right balance to his personality. We had to perceive it as a real bird and give it a behavior that is not too human.

Can you say a few words about Cars 2, which is currently being prepared?
There are more things I can not tell you how many things I can! And I'm currently on another project in development so I can talk to you even less! That said, Cars 2 is very promising! There are many new characters brilliant. And then there's something very exciting in the fact of representing the world in style Cars . Everything I've seen really makes you want! All major cities in the world will be transformed according to this philosophy "automobile." This will be an international action film since many countries will be able to see their version "because -FEAI. It will be very nice!

CHRISTMAS TO WALT DISNEY STUDIOS: Interview with director Emmanuel Lenormand

Are you ready to turn the big movie of your Christmas? In this season of holidays, the director Emmanuel Lenormand plunges us into the magic of Christmas with the Christmas movies from Walt Disney Studios Lane: a Christmas single that puts all our senses appetite ....

What is the Christmas Market Park Walt Disney Studios?
For me, Christmas markets are a sublime tradition of the East of France and Europe. I saw such lavish Christmas markets in Germany. It's really "the" celebration of Christmas through the products, but also through the scents, colors, flavors, etc.. So I tried to capture that spirit in the Walt Disney Studios Production Courtyard. It is a place which is large enough, so that lends itself well to this event, plus it is on the path Disney's Stars 'n' Cars .

How did you develop this concept in relation last year?
Last year it was more of a test. This year we applied to make it even more magical, and "cinema". We really want that visitors are within a film. Thus we designed this Christmas market as a "Christmas Lane" lined with cottages on which we have done a lot of light. And this went cottage ends with the Christmas tree. Last year, the tree was a nod to the cinema with film reels as a Christmas balls. This year, we created a completely different from pine last year, and at the same time completely different from that of Disneyland, with a perspective and colors in the blues. It is quite magical, especially at dusk around 16h-17h. And to be perfectly suited to Disneyland, there is also a small post office on the Studios. If Father Christmas is in Disneyland, his elves are going through the Walt Disney Studios to bring the letters of all children. There is also a small barn with a reindeer that will be a little nod to the team work of Father Christmas.

What makes this year's market is it more "Cinema"?
This market is more in tune with the history of Walt Disney Studios in the sense that it no longer lies behind a set, but "in" a setting, as if the visitors were in a movie. We decided instead to immerse visitors in the dream rather than show them behind the scenes. So in that spirit that we created this walk.

Christmas Day so in both parks.
We think every year at Walt Disney Studios when we work on Christmas. We ask many questions. The fact is there has always been a friendly atmosphere Christmas at Walt Disney Studios. It can always be increased, but I think we can really live with this Christmas Lane, but also with Merry Christmas Walt Disney Studios morning with Disney characters coming to wish Merry Christmas. It is true that, ultimately, our desire is that Christmas is celebrated in both the Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland, but we prefer to take it slow, in small steps. And this year, the other novelty is the theme of "Christmas" from Disney's Stars 'n' Cars .

How do you theme Cavalcade this in the spirit of Christmas?
We change the start and finish of cars, Mickey will wish Merry Christmas to all children, and we have a new medley, with one side very "Hollywood Christmas", very Broadway. I think it's a nice surprise for our visitors. Most of this ride very popular with visitors is the same, but the Christmas spirit is clearly there!

THE FUNNY CHRISTMAS SCROOGE: Interview with actor Jim Carrey

In A Christmas Scrooge Jim Carrey not only plays the famous usurer, but also the three ghosts of Christmas should visit him to make him understand the true spirit of the festival. Excellent idea that the latter, showing that the Christmas spirit is in everyone, even the most recalcitrant!

Here's what the man who had played the Grinch a few years ago told the press last May in Cannes, during the presentation of the first images of the film.

known dozens of film versions the Christmas story Dickens. Why have agreed to participate in it?
What I like is when you tell the audience a story of a truly novel, which fills the screen and touches you deep. I followed all the career of Robert - Roger Rabbit the Polar Express, Cast Away , etc.. With this knowledge, I knew it would be an original.
What you like about the characters of Scrooge?
love go through the mind of a character. It may sound cliché, but I'm always interested in psychology, to understand the reasons why people are what they are. I also liked the idea of Robert to make me play the three spirits. It's a great idea because every mind can be a different aspect of the personality of Scrooge. There's something Freudian in this approach.

You also play Scrooge at different ages.
By adding this, this is something like eight different characters because I had to have the mentality of a child under 7 years old, a teenager who realizes that no one picks him up at the orphanage, while all others have somewhere to go. Of course, every time the voice changes as the character ages, which is a challenge in itself. Add to this the fact that the spirits each have a different accent.

How was filming in performance capture?
Most people think it is dubbing classic, but it's actually much closer due to play in a theater. All actors are together in one room and give a full interpretation that is captured by the camera. The difference is simply that these images are then fed into a computer to give the film that looks so great.

Finally, it seems very natural.
Yes, except that you need to wear suits rather strange and something that looks like a bike helmet on the head with multiple cameras, which is quite curious in intimate scenes. I remember the scenes with Robin Wright Penn in which we were just knocking us.

As in every fairy tale, you see a moral in the Funny Christmas Scrooge?
For me, the moral of this story is that you love people around you, and that you can always change people's lives!
