Petition Médiapart

Monique send me a petition, via Médiapart, I was struck by its simplicity and accuracy of its argument.
I invite you to bring your hand, after reading the following preamble.

what we're all French that is our origin. And most French people, one way or another, a foreign origin.

We are members of a nation which, according to Article 1 of its Constitution, "ensures equality before the law for all citizens without distinction of origin, race or religion ". We are citizens of a republic that refuses to discriminate against the French by origin, whatever. We belong to a people who, by solemnly proclaiming its commitment to human rights, remember that this selection from French by origin was that the racist regime of Vichy.

The first of the powers and duties of the President of the French Republic is to ensure compliance with the Constitution, and therefore these principles. Now Nicolas Sarkozy has said publicly, Grenoble, July 30, that "the nationality shall be withdrawn at any person of foreign origin who have deliberately undermined the life of a police officer, a military the police or any other person vested with public authority ".

If this intention became reality, it would create two classes of French, undermining the principle of equality before the law and creating a conditional citizenship for the French of foreign origin. Nothing can justify the committing of such attacks on the unity of our national community and the republican tradition, as defined by our Constitution.

We do not know if and how far these attacks could grow in the future. We would be fully supportive of any "French of foreign origin" that is a victim of such discrimination. Already, we call the President of the Republic to learn the lessons of the past and give without waiting to implement a regression also contrary to fundamental principles of the Republic.
